I put on around 6 kgs during Covid work-from-home period. Then I got into IIMB and was happy that the intense curriculum and the ensuing hard work will help me in getting back to original svelte form.
Oh, how wrong I was!
And how much I underestimated the mess menu at IIM Bangalore!
My father had apparently warned me that the dishes served at the IIMB mess are really good and I will have a difficult time only salivating over the menu and not hogging on the food items.
(My father has visited IIMB twice to give lectures as a government expert and has totally enjoyed his stay there.)
Eventually, I did end up gorging on the varied dishes served in every meal and gaining 6 more kgs and becoming a huge potato or watermelon or a lady Humpty Dumpty with long hair! 🤓
Imagine putting on 12 kgs on a petite frame!
There is a saying that you should have breakfast like a king! I used to have breakfast like a hungry witch queen who was resurrected after a hundred years every morning. Maybe it was the stress of curriculum or the placements or the existential crisis of why did I decide to do MBA and that too, the dreaded 1-year one, even though I was doing perfectly well with my earlier role and had blogging to pay for my debaucheries.
In this picture, I’m having a good amount of protein although I was not exercising well in the first two terms and had humongous amount of carbohydrates that eventually contributed to my potato/watermelon persona!

Yes, I’m fat-shaming myself because putting on so much weight resulted in a host of health issues for me – extremely high inflammation, knee bursitis and arthritis, PCOD and associated issues such as extreme mood swings, migraine and brain fog.
Imagine not being able to understand finance subjects at all and wondering what is wrong with you although you have been good at mathematics your entire life! That is the beauty (or rather ugliness of brain fog).
Jokes on tragedies apart, I have realized my issue of uncontrollable lust towards food and have got back to my earlier hourglass figure after a strict diet and exercise regime. Now I know what and how not to eat for a prolonged duration!
